Corporate booking via the GDS

Turning a 5-night stay into 53 nights

A single business traveller’s five-night booking at a Manchester Build to Rent studio was extended four times, ending as a 53-night stay. It shows how the Global Distribution System delivers high-value repeat guests, and what coordinated service is worth.

The situation

A five-night corporate booking, and an open question

A solo business traveller booked a studio apartment at Cable Street, Manchester, a Build to Rent property, through a travel agent specialising in business travel. The booking came in via the GDS, with all communication and coordination handled by TrustedStays and the supplier.

The original booking was five nights. What happened next is the point: it was extended four times across two months, including a mid-stay break where the guest checked out and returned.

How it worked

Coordination that made extending frictionless

All booking activity was managed by the guest’s travel agency through the GDS. For each extension the agency contacted TrustedStays, who confirmed room availability, processed payment from the agency, and relayed the details to both supplier and guest.

After the mid-stay break, TrustedStays proactively held the apartment for the guest’s return rather than releasing it, minimising disruption and marking the relationship. Mid-stay cleans were arranged directly with the guest by the supplier.

Final impact

One booking, multiplied more than tenfold

Extensions could be processed instantly, even after the initial check-out, turning a short-term guest into the most valuable segment there is: a repeat, long-stay corporate resident.

The takeaway

What the GDS channel is actually worth

  • Extensions are the value

A single GDS corporate booking multiplied its value by more than ten times through strategic extensions. The first booking is the beginning of the revenue, not the whole of it.

  • Service creates loyalty

Holding the apartment across the mid-stay break cost availability in the short term and secured the rest of the stay.

  • One point of coordination

Agency, supplier and guest each dealt with TrustedStays rather than each other, which is what made four extensions frictionless.

  • The channel proves itself

For operators and corporate travel managers, GDS access turns occupancy gaps into long-stay corporate demand.
